Since a puppy is on the way the trade off was that the gerbils should find a new home (only so much room in the house for animals). Sophie’s good friend is taking them so they are just down the road for visits.

After 140k miles with the 97 Honda Civic it was time to trade it in. The car had been with Jocie in California, Utah, we then took it to Chicago, San Fran, and then out to Denver. So long green civic.

Sam was obsessed with the idea of getting a mini RC helicopter. We had one, but it was beyond repair. He convinced Fischer to spend some of his money on one they could “share”. Amazon came through and for $20 bucks the thing is pretty cool and they have had a lot of fun.

Sammy had a little scrimmage today—this is a quick photo of a great dane that was there. I centered the exposure on the dog and cropped this in a bit.

Over lunch a few small flakes of snow began to fall. Over the west the clouds gathered and then out of nowhere the sun emerged for about 20 minutes. Sammy bought a small basketballbackboard today. Sophie is off at the Western Stockshow with her friend (taking in a dog show while she is there). Fischer is playing video games non-stop.

Sammy, Fischer, and I went for a little adventure walk behind the house in the open space. We crossed a little creek by walking across a big fallen tree. We then made our way through a drained wetland area with thousands of cat tails. They were kicking off their fur and at times we could barely breathe. We ended up making our way back after having breathed in and eaten a few of the spores. Fischer was equipped with a small 2 inch pen knife. There is a good photo of him in the 20120115 set.

Sophie’s dream day is about 5 weeks away. She has picked out her puppy and getting ready for it by lots of reading and creating itemized list of things that need to be bought and done in preparation for the new arrival.
